TMAC South Central partnered with CPS Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency to help implement the nation’s first energy efficiency program for mid-size manufacturers.
CPS and its partners showcased the program July 27 at a press conference held at Southern Folger Detention Equipment Center, the first manufacturer to complete the program and receive more than $10,000 in commercial rebates for implementing the program. Southern Folger also received a $61,000 rebate for a lighting retrofit project.
The Lean Clean Energy program, an initiative of CPS Energy’s Save for Tomorrow Energy Plan, has as its goal to save 9 megawatts of electrical demand from San Antonio manufacturers by 2020. TMAC provides training, resources and tools to help manufacturers implement energy-efficiency changes. This includes analyzing energy bills, conducting assessments of the manufacturing plants, on-site instrumented measurement and analysis, project justification, and facilitated training on key energy-using systems. Projects are geared towards rapid payback opportunities for industrial processes and facilities.
TMAC offers a variety of services to reduce energy cost and material usage. Attend the Lean to Green Manufacturing Conference in Austin, Texas to hear Mark Sessumes, Kurt Middelkoop, and Carl Alsup address Lean, Clean and Energy. See www.sme.org/L2G for more information.
